WIW 8/7, Too big blazer?

This is a JCrew boyfriend blazer I've had for a few years. I'm wondering if it's just too big, it's a size 12.
Worn with black layering tank, white v-neck long sleeve tee, AG ex-boyfriend shorts and Belle by Sigerson Morrison boots.

I think the big look can work!  A couple alternate options:

    • cropping the sleeves
    • pairing it with button-up shirt & tie or scarf

I find a bit big, but big blazers are in!

I really like it as a slouch blazer from the front, but the side view definitely says "too big" to me.

Too big.  All that puckering in the shoulders makes it look like the wrong size (to me), instead of intentional.

I think it looks too big in that it's big all over. I think the "big" blazer look can be attractive if it's "easy" in the right places and mostly a little long, and just a little big, but is not flattering if it's kind of boxy big and especially through the bust or armholes. Kind of a hard look to pull off since it isn't just a matter of sizing up, usually, but needs to be cut specially. Also like some styles an oversized look can work better on the tall, lanky models, whereas IRL a lot of gals look better in items that actually FIT.--sort of like a photo on the forum long ago where there was a weird loose fitting maxi or something on a model who as I recall I thought would look beautiful in a bedsheet, whereas I would not.

This is IMO, of course, and coming from having a high preference for figure-flattery over fashion-trending. If you're still trying to sort it out, try it on with some other items such as pencil skirt, over a sheath dress, or structured, slim things like that where slightly oversized blazers really shine.

I sympathize, though, because I've been worried about tossing tops or toppers that look too big and then finding that it's the "in" style. I've been trying to use some of the criteria above for me, so that I'm finding if the bust or the armhole area look too big I usually don't look good,  and I need a middle ground, not too shrunken in the armpits to be comfortable, but not too big--hence I tossed several blazers out and am trying to be very particular about any new blazers.

I agree with Adelfa where I think the front view looks good but the side view too big.

Adelfa spoke for me. I was going to say that 80's big could be fun, but from the side it just swamped you.

It looks like you really are wearing a boyfriend's jacket. I think it might work if you scrunched the sleeves for structure

Hmm, hard to tell if it's just the oversized BF look or actually too big.  I would have to see it from the back, I think.  The fit in the back around the shoulders and armholes always makes it clear to me.

Disclaimer:  I've never found a BF jacket that works for me (they are always overwhelming on me because my torso is so short), so I'm not really sure what to look for.

Too big to wear with shorts, I think it would be fine with pants or longer bottoms.  However, you are smaller in stature and the overall length is bordering on overwhelming.

Kinda big, but it's up to you. I like those boots with shorts, cute!

It's great from the front, but does simply look big from the side. I don't know. In motion, it probably doesn't look that way at all. I'd hang on to it for awhile and see.

It is big but looks good in the oversize way. I would keep and pair with some tights and skinnies before purging. Take with a grain of salt because I am the worlds worst hoarder....cause you never know.

How does it look from the back? I found this is where fit issues are the most visible.

Thanks, I think I'll dry clean it and consign it.
I think boyfriend blazers have had their day, and this one is about 3-4 years old.

I also think it looks okay from the front but not so much from the side. I generally like the slightly oversized look though.  Seems you have made up your mind already and it's time to move on.
