WIW 8/1 Grey, blue, shoes of regret

Remember how I posted yesterday that the final sale Rachel Comey fashion clogs were too narrow. Well this morning on a whim, I tried them on and could get them on. My feet yesterday were probably swollen after a long hot day. I should probably get them stretched to be on the safe side.
Worn with R13 tshirt, Rachel Comey denim culottes and Givenchy bag.
I left the top untucked or even semi-tucked because I've been influenced by the styling of La Garconne and Totokaelo showing boxy tops over volume. Does it work in a fashion frump kind of way?

I love this so much, YLF! Color scheme and proportions are so flattering -- to me, no frump, just cool girl style. I love that skirt so much styled like this and want it badly! Glad the RC clogs are feeling better on your feet now. Good call to try stretching under the circumstances. Once again style inspiration although I will try a version with black booties (PG Natick or CH Cassidy, closest I can approximate the silhouette).

This totally and fabulously works - and then some! I really like the proportions and the soft color palette paired with the hard edge black.

The clogs look fantastic - I hope they're comfortable for you.

I opened the pic and said: "Wow."  Love this look on you!  Very different silhouette but looks awesome!  And the clogs!  And the socks!  Nailed it.

  • Mo replied 9 years ago

Hope you can make them work for you.  That's so frustrating.  I'm loathe to buy final sale anymore.

  • gryffin replied 9 years ago

Anna - I so adore this on you!!  Way cool shoes and the socks, wow, divine!!  Didn't even know they made those, I bow to super shopper!!  Hope the stretching makes them comfy but really love this look!!  Awesome!!

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

I'm glad the clogs for today because they are awesome! Hope they are comfortable too. I have had luck stretching shoes w/ rubbing alcohol if that helps.

I like the boxy silhouette. Those culottes are really your fashion MVP this summer, aren't they?

  • Alana in Canada replied 9 years ago

I am so glad the clogs may work out. There's nothing like feeling sick over an expensive purchase! I love this silhouette on you too. I love true cropped boxy tops over long and flowy skirts. Nicely done.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

Gah, they are fantastic! So happy they fit - those socks are killer, too. You are inspiring me to try my baggy culotte things out of doors. Totally into the fashion frump.

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

I love this outfit!  I think the volume on volume works here.  The blue and grey look very nice together.  I'm glad the clogs are working for you although I hope they don't get tight and uncomfortable by the end of the day.

  • ironkurtin replied 9 years ago

Those are the shoes of AWESOME.

I have that shirt!  It's perfect, right?

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Those culottes have become utter workhorses, Anna. I don't think I have seen you wear anything as frequently - do you agree? I love those denim culottes and enjoy seeing you style them in multiple fun and creative ways. xo

  • Isis replied 9 years ago

Yay!  Looks great!  I see just fashion, no frump :)

  • modgrl replied 9 years ago

I think the shoes are really cool and I'm glad you got them to work for you. You can always get them stretched a bit if you still feel like they are too narrow for you. I've had this done to boots with some success. Have to be honest... not sure if I am getting the culottes... but it does work, especially with the bookended black bag, shoes and sunnies.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 9 years ago

I like this look a lot ... the clogs are the perfect thing for all that volume on top, and they make it all look more deliberate (where if you tossed on flat sandals it might look like a mistake)

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

When I started to read your post I thought, "Uh oh, I'm probably not going to like the volume on volume in this outfit" - but I actually like it - a lot, in fact. I also really like the shoes with socks outfits that you've been wearing - so much so that you inspired me to wear socks with my shoes yesterday :)

  • Greyscale replied 9 years ago

Excellent. And I'm so glad the shoes worked after all. I love them.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

The clogs are gorgeous. I'm glad that they're maybe wearable after all.

Ok, but you're gonna need to start putting some arrows in your pics, pointing to the frump. Seriously. Looking and not seeing!!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

I think this is my favorite of your culotte outfits. Glad the shoes are working better today!

  • replied 9 years ago

If the shoes are comfortable, I kinda love them.  I can see why you bought them in the first place.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Totally works! Not even too frumpy, you've definitely got more room in the "fashion frump" department to play with; the shorter length of the top helps a lot, as does the heel height. Glad to hear you might be able to get those lovelies to work for you with some stretching. Seriously fun socks, not the type of cutout I was expecting to see ^^

I am thrilled for you that the shoes worked out!   Your outfit does not look frumpy in the least.  You look like you're all set to go to a music festival.

  • frannieb replied 9 years ago

not frumpy at all - the shoes, purse and sunglasses take it away from frumpy. All in the accessories.

  • lyn* replied 9 years ago

Oooh, are those the special socks too? They're charmingly edgy and very Anna-esque!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

I'm so glad the shoes worked out.  They really fit your style.

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

I love those culottes on you every time you post them! And how great is it that the shoes might work out, after all? I felt bad for you when I read your last post about them.

  • Emily replied 9 years ago

The shoes!  I'm glad they worked out after all.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I like the culottes much better with these shoes.

  • cciele replied 9 years ago

Yay, glad the shoes are working. You were right on thinking they'd work with the culottes. And I love the socks -- haven't seen any like that before!

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

Yay! This outfit is awesomely fab.

It's great to see the culottes in action so much! They must be one of your wardrobe favorites?

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Another amazing outfit built around those culottes.  Holding thumbs that the shoes end up working after all.

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

So fun and fab! I am so glad you got the shoes to work. And I would take them to get stretched. Even if they fit now, I bet the stretching will add a bit of comfort.

  • tricia w. replied 9 years ago

LOL, shoes of regret! I think they work.

  • MsMary replied 9 years ago

Anna, believe it or not I resisted opening this thread all day long because it was going to be too painful to read about your regret.  Imagine my surprise and delight to find they worked out after all!  Yay!  This outfit is fab!  So cool and unfussy yet super fashiony!!  Big thumbs up!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I, too, was a little apprehensive on reading the title, even though I had read your update on the clogs! I'm so glad you could wear them today! And the outfit is fantastic. I love the tee--it's just the perfect shape and fit for this outfit. And I can't get over those open-heel socks with the fab clogs. Fashion frump--yes! I like your term.

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

The culottes for the win!  Such a cute outfit Anna!  The pale colors are so pretty on you!  And, those clogs are awesome!

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

Anna, this is great look with these soft cool colors and I'm glad your shoes of regret are cooperating with your feet.  I was going to suggest the wet-foot method Angie mentioned to stretch shoes, but it sounds like you've got a plan.I love your socks, with the cute open heel.  What a nice detail.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

I think you should try Angie's potato-in-shoe trick to try and stretch the shoes a bit.  The socks are original and make the look along with the clogs, sunnies and bag.  The skirt and top need the fashiony and current accessories and you nailed it.  I also can see this with one of your more graphic tees. Your black and white jersey? Or something more origami shaped could work good too.
