WIW 7/5 Trying to up my commuting game

Normally I look like a schlump-a-dump commuting because I ride the bus and immediately change into scrubs at work. Wednesday I ended up running an errand after work and wasn't happy with what I looked like. So today I decided to up my game because I had to run another errand after work. Layers are essential, as I wear a tank top under my scrubs for my sacroiliac belt for work. Even in the summer I need a light jacket in the morning. Shoes that I can wear socks with as I have clogs at work I wear, also I must be able to run in my shoes because often my bus connections going home are tight, depending on whether the bus gods are smiling on me. Often I wear the exact same clothes all week except for changing the tank top because the hours of actual wear is very low.
Wearing my Wood Wood silk floral bomber from the Totokaelo sale, James Perse black v-neck tee with Target black tank top, AG ex-boyfriend denim shorts (they're really not baggy enough, but I got them from a sample sale and didn't have the time to deal with exchanges, hope they work ok) and Acne Pistol boots also from the Totokaelo sales.

WOW! I really REALLY love this outfit Anna! The floral bomber is gorgeous and looks fantastic with the denim shorts. I think the shorts look great. And those boots....OH THOSE BOOTS...the perfect example of a nude summer bootie IMHO.

I really love this look, Anna! The boots are perfect with the shorts and I totally want to steal that awesome bomber.
Fwiw, I tried th ag ex boyfriends in the bf length and they were also pretty fitted on me so I think it's just how they're cut. I think they're great as a more fitted style though, just not as a bf style.

Looks great - and bravo, no reason to look schlumpy even on a commute. I think this will make you happier, that your clothes will get some use even if only on the bus to and from work!

Rule no 1: never get caught outside house in schlump-a-dump especially without sac.
Fabulous outfit and the make up suits you.

    Great commuting outfit, love it

  • jurocha replied 10 years ago

You surely upped your game! Nice commuting outfit.

  • citygirldc replied 10 years ago

    That's a fun outfit.

  • Nadya replied 10 years ago

You don't need to limit this to commuting, it's very cute! And if you really want to pull out sandals that one gorgeous week in August, you can always tick a pair of socks in your purse :-)

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

It has always puzzled me why you wouldn't wear your beautiful clothes in the morning to commute to work. It gives you more opportunity to enjoy them!!! I'm glad you are re-thinking this strategy, even if it's only on days when you run errands after work. KILLER outfit.

  • Jenava replied 10 years ago

I Love this outfit! The bomber is gorgeous, I want a pair of shorts like that, and I love that the boots are low contrast with you legs. SO CUTE!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Yay for wearing your pretty clothes to work, even if it's just for a short time they have more chance to shine! I wear my "nice" work clothes and white jeans for MOTG even though they get dirty chasing around the baby and toddlers. You always look fab in dark florals (like the floral H&M pants and blazer).

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Ooh, I really love this. The boots are awesome with your hair and legs, and they play off the jacket really well.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

    Fab outfit!
Why not wear those cool clothes every chance you get?

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Great opportunity to get more wear out of your fun clothes and to feel good!  I so love this look, but in the high heat and humidty here I have no interest in wearing boots... hard for this boot loving woman!

  • chewyspaghetti replied 10 years ago

works perfectly- take those opportunities to wear some of your fabulous pieces!

  • replied 10 years ago

    Stunning! What a great look.
I'm interested what's a sacroilliadc belt for? you see I have problems with my right sacroilliac joint.

  • rute replied 10 years ago

    Gorgeous!!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

This outfit is great for anything, not just commuting.
I have to confess that one of the reasons why I often commute on foot to work is to have more chance to wear my coats :-) So yes, in my book commute time counts as much as any other time for looking great.
Oh, na don the other thought: who know who you can meet at that bus, it is better to be prepared for anything! :-)

  • Isabel replied 10 years ago

i absolutely love the outfit and  the sentiment.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Anna, you look fantastic! And I really love your hair back like that - it's very elegant and yet playful.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

I love the outfit! You are ready to bump into anyone. I love those boots. Are they comfortable?

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

Thanks everyone. One of nurses saw me before I changed into scrubs and complimented my boots, she said you always look so cute. So I guess some people really do notice.
The boots were really comfortable in the store. I did walk up eight floors of stairs in them. Of course the real test is if I end up running for the bus in them.

  • cciele replied 10 years ago

Echoing everyone here -- great outfit! Those boots are awesome and I love the pattern on the bomber. Let us know how the boots survive a bus-chasing session :)

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

That bomber is the bomb! Great to think of it with shorts--it rocks denim.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Eeee! Super cute!

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

I get stuck doing all kinds of stuff in my work uniform, both before and after shift, and have contemplated bringing a change of even just a top.
Perhaps I'll take a peplum mixed media tank with me tonight.  Thanks for the impetus to address the pre/post work errand running capsule.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

    Love this outfit!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Great outfit Anna!  Glad you are upping your commute to work outfit game, it makes a lot of sense.  I would copy this outfit in a heartbeat (although with more mediocre pieces) if it weren't for the heat here.

I especially covet those Acne booties!

  • DonnaF replied 10 years ago

The jacket!!!  The boots!!!  I am all for upping your commuting outfit as long as you have a secure locker in which to store your fab clothing.  Wouldn't want anything bad to happen to them.  Also, stay away from pumps or other slip-on shoes as commuting footwear if there is any possibility you will have to chase public transportation.  Nothing more annoying, frustrating, or embarrassing than leaving a shoe behind.  Ask me how I know. . .

  • hedgiehog replied 10 years ago

Very cute outfit! I love the nude boots....they are just the right thing to complete that outfit. :)

  • Ginkgo replied 10 years ago

Fantastic outfit on you!  Love the jacket and the boots especially, and your legs - WOW!  Show them off every chance you get.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Fabulous outfit - you look lovely :)

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

    Aiyeee!!!  LOVE!!

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

Amazing!  Boots, jacket, shorts!  Looks so great!  I like your hair back, too.

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Fantastic! I was wondering about running in the boots... Love the idea of upping the commute look!

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

Did not have to run for the bus today, but did end up walking about a mile. Boots were fine. Although I need more friends. About 1/2 through the day I posted on facebook a query about meeting up for a drink after work. Did NOT get a single response, insert sad panda face.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

Oh, man!  Too bad I'm not there!  I would have TOTALLY met up for a drink today!!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

    Gotta LOVE that jacket!

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

YLF. The outfit is great. The booties and bomber are amazing.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

    I love the floral jacket!

  • replied 10 years ago

    Great idea; great outfit!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

What a great outfit!  This is one of my favorites I've seen you post!  DH also takes the bus and it's all about comfortable footwear.  I find boatshoes come in fun colors and I can wear a sock with them.  Also non-work out sneakers are good, they have lots of fun prints and colors now-a-days.  And I am a boot gal myself, so I always vote for boots for footwear.

  • Mia replied 10 years ago

Boots are amazing. Love everything about this outfit.

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

Wowza!  This is a great outfit!  I would hope that you can find more places to wear it than just commuting to work.
I got some AG ex-boyfriend jeans this summer and I had to size up to a size that I've never worn before, just to get them on!  They are definitely cut differently than other BF jeans!
