WIW 7/26 Day and Night

Day edition running errands with an old college friend who was transiting through Seattle to do a mountaineering course.
Raquel Allegra silk chiffon tie-dye shirt, suede olive boots and LD Tuttle nude peep-toe booties.
Evening edition for the wedding. Notice, no cherries. I got an update on the wedding plan this week. It will be cash bar and only appetizers. So the cherry headband would have been way too much. As it is I'm probably overdressed.
DVF slouchy black dress, old Italian sandals, mixed pearl and silver bracelet, white gold octopus black pearl pendant. Not pictured white LAMB clutch.

You made me think of this:

I think you look lovely.  Have fun!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous - both! Love the simplicity of the black dress in particular. And adore the lip color.

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

Too bad about the cherries, but you look great in the black dress!  You'll have to report back about whether people were actually wearing slacks

And I want to see the octopus pendant!

I really like the top in the first outfit.  Love the peek of bra from under the pattern.

Worse than expected. More than one guy in cargo shorts & tshirts. Five finger shoes . Denim capris. Lots of guys in jeans. Fashion disaster, red tartan maxi skirt, sparkly blue top & flat Mary Janes.
I have gotten compliments on my outfit though.

I am covering my ears and singing, "La-la-la!" as you tell about the clothing at this event. I don't care what anyone else wears; you look beautiful and perfectly appropriate for a wedding reception, no matter WHAT others choose to wear!

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Haha you should feel extra fab after seeing the other attendees outfits :)

You know, it is none of my business what kind of dress code people want to have at their wedding--live and let live. But I do find it a shame that, generlly speaking, there are just fewer and fewer occaisions in our lives to dress up. It is FUN to dress up! It feels good to dress up! As I told my 16 year old son when we bought him real pants (instead of sweat pants) and a polo shirt (instead of a T-shirt) it is POLITE to dress up! (Not that he was "dressed up". I din't want him to feel uncomfortable and miserable. He was, however, "cleaned up," lol!)
You look terrific! Both day and night! I hope you had fun, at least.

  • Sal replied 9 years ago

I agree with Alana. It is fun to get dressed up, it does not mean buying new clothes but wearing the smart ones that you have.

You look great, love the look in its entirety.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Ditto to Alana and Kiwigal. You look fantastic in both outfits.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Love both outfits! Shorts great on you, the dress is perfect too and I have to start stalking LD Tuttle. On the other hand, cash bar at a wedding? Oh my. That could really take the fun out of things.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

Verra verra cool top in #1. Hardcore wantsies. I love the shooties, too.

Cash bar at a wedding is a little odd, bordering on rude from what I hear. If it's a traditional type wedding where gifts are expected and stuff. I think that means you get to wear whatever you want. ;)

Great outfits, both day and night. I really like your night outfit -- simple but very interesting and cool details. I wonder, do you think it has something to do with the PNW being casual/outdoorsy that would lead to such casual dress at a reception?

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

You look great for the wedding—it's a simple outfit and not overdone. I like it.

And I agree with Alana. If you can't get dressed up for a wedding, then when CAN you get dressed up? I think it's too bad that even occasions that used to be very formal are now so dressed down. We need occasions where we have an excuse to look our absolute best.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Love both outfits, gorgeous.  The wedding one is perfect, that dress is so interesting.  Too bad about the strange dress code, but I am sure you got compliments on your cool outfit!

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

That top in the day outfit is all sorts of awesomeness! Fab styling too.

Well that casual reception dress code may have been what the couple wanted, but kudos to you for dressing up!

  • Lucy replied 9 years ago

That is the best looking shorts and a shirt I've seen for a long time. You look wonderful.
And the dress is just perfect for such an event, when you don't quite know what to expect, but you want to look lovely yourself. I think you look fabulous - and it sounds like the other guests did too!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

Love the casual day outfit, and you look perfectly chic and just dressed up enough for the wedding occasion. I don't care what anyone says, I'd feel underdressed wearing anything more casual than a simple dress at a wedding. It's depressing to me to see people wearing the same stuff they'd wear to go fishing or schlepping around at a special occasion like a wedding. I don't care how commonplace it becomes -- I will buck that trend forever.

  • marianna replied 9 years ago

Both outfits are really fantastic! You look great.

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

Great outfits!  I love those peep toe booties with the shorts.  They match your skin tone so well.  The dress looks great on you and although the fashion sounds horrible, I hope you had fun at the wedding anyway.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Killer baggy shorts look. Fab palette with your complexion, Anna.

Sounds like you were the best dressed at the wedding. OF COURSE you were in that fabulous outfit. xo

  • goldenpig replied 9 years ago

Love the nude shooties! You look so glam in your evening look. Too bad about the cherries and the super casual wedding reception. You looked extra fab though!

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

I love those shorts! The whole outfit is so fab, the color palette really suits you. And fab wedding outfit too, those shoes look killer sexy on you.

  • Ginkgo replied 9 years ago

The cream colors of the shorts outfit are so flattering on you, and you always look great in shorts, so what's not to love?  The black dress and heels are classy yet simple, so there's no way you look overdressed.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

You are not overdressed in that dvd at all.  Looks perfect for a casual wedding.

  • MsMary replied 9 years ago

This is why I am so happy I have a lot of Persian and Armenian friends.  It is impossible to be overdressed at a Middle Eastern wedding!  LOL  (You look fab  as always in both outfits!)

  • ironkurtin replied 9 years ago

    ...toe shoes...?!

  • annagybe replied 9 years ago

    Five fingered shoes.

  • ironkurtin replied 9 years ago

I know what they are -- I'm just horrified ANYONE would think they were okay for a party!

  • K. Period. replied 9 years ago

Anna, I love these both! Especially the dark base tank/bra with the sheer skirt (so fun! so not over the top sexy!).  And that slouch dress is amazing. I want to clone it.

FWIW, your description of the wedding attire made throw up in my mouth just a little bit.  What is wrong with people? If it was a tree house wedding and you had to hike to get there? Understandable. But obviously this wasn't.  Come one people. Just a little respectful dressing up.  Seriously. These people are getting married. That's a big change in people's lives and a big commitment.  Show 'em some respect.
