WIW 6/14 Maximal whackadoodle, possible veering into crazysauce

So my sales person at Nordstrom has been trying to get me into these Givenchy floral Birkenstock style sandals for quite a while. I balked at the price, then they went on sale, still balking. Well yesterday I was perusing the dregs of designer clearance and they were even further reduced. Only thing was they were a 41. I used to be a 40 consistently, but now am finding I need to size up. But they fit like Birkenstocks should, though I must say the footbed is not as comfortable.
So I thought the rose garden would be a good location shot. They were setting up for a wedding.
Worn with my H&M floral pants; when these die, it's going to be a sad day. I think they're over two years old. Current/Elliott camo shirt, Nanette Lepore leather jacket (five years old). Venessa Arizaga necklace, Claire's floral headband and old Coach leather fanny pack (is mid 90's vintage?). The socks are a pale pink.
Going to a local seafood restaurant that has an outdoor fireplace and champagne bottle specials. I'm wearing a camisole under this and they high will barely be in the low 60's. My friend is determined to eat on the patio. Will be testing the warming effects of champagne, uh yeah for science. We are then going to do a closet sort and remix of her closet.

You are so right about the floral pants, those are really great! And well done with the Birkis. And all the flowers...and fun plans...a very fine day no matter how you slice it. :)

ETA: We're having similar weather for the next half week, and I am sooo OK with it. June in the PNW is wonderful. Give me this over the sticky summers out east any day!

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

Yes, keeping the fingers crossed the floral pants will continue to go strong. Love all the florals in the rose garden setting. I'm a big fan of the floral headband!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

You're wearing a garden and it's beautiful! Those floral pants were made for you Anna. This is ALGO for most folks but you wear it with intention and panache. Have a fab day and way to take one for the science team with the champagne warming test - lol!

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

Awesome flower pattern mixing!  And great idea to take pics in the rose garden - so beautiful.

I love that Givenchy floral print.  I would love to have it on a handbag.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the "Frida" vibe! I have just rewatched it as I was in bed most of the week and am still under strong impressions. What a treat to see you! I was honestly thinking how could one ever create Frida-like outfit.

I'm only not crazy about the socks. To give the fuller context, I have hard time with Birks trend as I wear them as house shoes, so I simply enjoy your outfit up (or down) to socks. And I really love what I see. Even t.h.e.s.e (wow) Birk-a-likes.

Gorgeous garden and closeup #9 especially.

Wow!  Those are, like, the Best Sandals Evah!!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I LOVE the flowers everywhere - on the pants, your head, and on the "Birkies" -  so you had me with all the flowers. Stunning location, and your pink cheeks are very pinchable.

Personally, I think the outfit would look nicer without the socks - but it's fearlessly fashion forward to wear Birkies like that at the moment - AND you need to stay warm on that patio. So practically and extra creatively, I understand the motivation.

I hereby crown you Queen Fearlessly Fashion Forward and Queen Crazy Sauce. Have fun tonight. xo

Love those sandals, as well as how fully you commit to your florals! Beautiful!

  • cciele replied 9 years ago

The flower headband makes the outfit, I think :) Great touch to a fabulously floral and hectic outfit!

  • Mo replied 9 years ago

Your post title is too much fun!  I'm not a florals gal, so I don't have much to offer on the outfit, but I do love the setting.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Actually I like the sox with the Birks- it has an 'Oriental' feel and looks intentional and fun!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

You look beautiful Anna - imo  the outfit isn't crazysauce because it doesn't overwhelm you.

  • Runcarla replied 9 years ago

Not feeling the socks, but OMG!! Everything else!!!

    I want your headpiece!

  • Emily replied 9 years ago

Not loving the socks and sandals, but the pants are awesome.

The jacket looks a bit tight in the photos - are you able to zip it up?

  • Debra replied 9 years ago

You look fantastic. I love everything about this and the roses are beautiful :)

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

I love those sandals. What do they have that regular birks (which I also like) don't that make them designer and so much more expensive? I don't know but they have it. Love the whole thing, including the fact you wore socks.

  • Missey replied 9 years ago

When I read "camo and floral" I thought, "Um, no".  The I saw your photos and I was all "Holy mackerel!  That is a crazy pants YES!"  Love the pattern mixing!  Shine on crazy diamond :)

  • DonnaF replied 9 years ago

Those ARE beautiful *Birkies*, and I'm amazed at how you are able to incorporate so much floral yet not go over the deep end.  I hope you had a great meal, and your friend was undoubtedly blown away by the combos you showed her in the closet remix.

Crazysauce never looked so good! Your title made me laugh, and the outfit makes me smile. It's a gorgeous mix of florals--really lovely and fun.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

You almost cured my Birks poison eye!! Those are amazing and so are these garden shots. I thought: Alice at the Mad Hatter's tea party!! So it is fitting you are going for champagne. You somehow manage to look pretty, fashion forward, a little wacky, and very smart in this outfit.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Without the socks, I love this on you :) ... And only you could possibly pull this off! Well done!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Crazy sauce... I like that lol. Love the outfit and the birks are awesome. Not being as fashion forward, the only thing I struggle with here are the socks:). I know they are very fashionable but my eye is just not used to them like this. Not a deal breaker tho, you still look fab.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

I just love all the floral pieces to this outfit. It's very fashion forward with the socks, and I love that too.

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

I can't get on board with the socks, but you rock the look. Keep on with your floral whackadoodle self! :-)

  • annagybe replied 9 years ago

Ok so this actually too much for me. I actually wore it to a suburban Costco & garden store. But steadfastly avoided all eye contact, though an employee at the garden store liked my floral headband.
I almost changed before meeting my friend, but didn't have time.
I think with this I found my limit.

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

*chuckle* I think it's brilliant that you tried it. Sometimes we need to step outside our comfort zone to test our boundaries.

  • leopardluxe replied 9 years ago

I love that you were testing your limits and the WIW title was too awesomely funny to not check it out. So much flowery goodness! I say if the outfit makes you laugh and smile in a good way, keep on whack-a-doodling! :-)

  • lyn* replied 9 years ago

    YEAH SCIENCE.

Thanks for being adventurous, Anna - I really like the floral headband to top it all off - it seems more deliberate as opposed to accidental flower attack :)

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

Fabulous all around!  Love the footwear and the fanny pack!  I returned my Clare V fanny pack, still on the hunt for a good one though.

  • bella replied 9 years ago

I think I would like this outfit better without the socks. This whole outfit - socks - headband, would be good for any occasion, I think.

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Anna - this may be whackadoodle - but sooo much fun! Brought a smile to
    my face!

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

    I love that floral crown.

Lol, on the too much tho. I have been contemplating the topic of fashion boundaries all weekend. Or more specifically, what would push them. I'm not sure if there are boundaries in the immediate vicinity of my domicile. At work yes; in my neighborhod, I don't know.

ETA: So what would you remove?

  • minimalist replied 9 years ago

    So much sock-hating, ladies!

What about different socks? Since I run cold, and was shivering just reading of your patio plans, I'd have been tempted by smartwool or similar:

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

I'm another non sock and sandal fan, but I've worn the same look myself, because sometimes you just need warm feet.  And socks with sandals does remind me of Japanese style where they pair socks with flip flop style shoes.  And the flower pants, also nod to a Japanese look, those are great pants and I echo that it will be sad when they go.
