WIW 5/23 Conservative

Going to a professional conference in downtown Seattle today. I was going to wear my microcheck pants and black boyfriend blazer, but the blazer proportions were all wrong for the pants. They need a fitted blazer. Then I put on a pencil skirt with my metallic tweed Etoile Isabel Marant zip jacket, too casual so I settled on this Isabel Marant navy blazer with gold buttons and red trim. Worn with my Brooks Brothers no iron shirt, black pencil skirt and Lanvin burgundy croc print smoking slippers.
Should I add red lipstick?

Wow, Anna, this is awesome. You look like you could stride right into a fashion magazine and start running the place. I have a poison eye for red lippie, especially for professional things, but take that with a grain of salt... my idea of professional is on the conservative side.

KILLER to the power of KILLER

Stunningly "fashionably conservative in the Anna way". Have a fab time at the conference! xo

I think you look great Anna! Red lippy may be a bit too much. How about a coraly/blush tone?

anna, superlatives fail.  stylish, on trend, wearable, totally anna.

and, i am so going to copycat this at my next conference.  those burgundy slippers are workhorses for you.

Wowza, you do conservative really well and make it seem exciting! Your understated make-up is perfect. I'd leave it as is. Your hair looks really good too. :)

LOVE that jacket and it is perfectly paired with the crisp white shirt and skirt. And then you take the already incredible outfit to another level with those gorgeous slipper flats.

I'm a red lip gal but think in this instance, your soft make up is lovely. I would go as is. You look GORGEOUS :)

I wouldn't go so far as to call this conservative but it is a great example of balancing appropriateness and your own distinct style. Truly fab!

I love that this is professional/business but still looks like you.  Super fierce.

I wouldn't do red lipstick.  I think it might look a bit costumey.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

This is great!  So chic!  I vote keep the soft makeup.

I am blown away by this outfit.  Everything is perfect.

I love those shoes soooo much. But wow, yes, that's conservative... haha, weirds me out a little. Haha!

What Janet said :) YL fantastic.

I was taken aback to see this on you in the sidebar of blogs and had to open it up.  Love your version of business wear!  Well done.  I also shy away from red lips so can't comment in an unbiased manner on that one.

This look knocks me out! You look amazing. Great pieces well combined.

  • Sheila replied 10 years ago

I think you look amazing, Anna -- capable, strong, feminine, stylish. And I vote for the softer makeup.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

So, nobody agrees with me, but I'd sure try the red lipstick. (And I don't even wear it!)

    You look great.

  • replied 10 years ago

Oh wow, Anna. You do "corporate with pizzaz " quite well. Very polished, profesional but still very Anna.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Yes, what Janet said. I love the casual sophistication of this totally conference appropriate outfit and have no idea about the lips.

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

Thanks everyone. Wow a K2K! I guess I can do professional dress if need be.
I decided to use a nudeish shimmery lipstick. I'm glad I did. The conference was overwhelming male and very conservative. One of my surgeons didn't even recognize me until I said "Hi". I guess he's used to seeing me in scrubs.
Unfortunately the shoes are not all day shoes. I have two popped blisters on each of my heels and was limping home. I was even wearing no-show socks.

    Very professional yet modern.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Very conservative but with interest and very modern.  You look fabulous!
