WIW 2/8 Happy hour whackadoodle shoe edition

Going to meet up with Jenava for happy hour and some much needed escape from my father.
Wearing my Maison Martin Margiela tabi boots. I first tried them without socks, but I think there was part on my big toe that would rub. The leather is pretty soft though. At the bottom of my sock bin I had a pair of Halloween toe socks I bought on impulse at Target eons ago. They worked. Someone on my previous thread recommended some toe socks meant for those 5-fingered toe shoes, will make a trip to REI to get some. My Dad said I shouldn't wear them to a concert because the soprano might hit a high C and shatter the heel.
Worn with Rag & Bone long tail jacket, Brooks Brothers no-iron button down, See by Chloe wool shorts, and hooray for footless tights. Also a clear lucite necklace to bookend or matchy-match the shoes.

I love everything about this, including the boots. I still ahve not worn my wool shorts, I will file this away for inspiration. Have a fun time!
A side note: Do you own the Acne Pistol booties? I am waiting for my exchange to come to me, the sizing is huge, but I wonder if the ankle would soften, at all.

OMG, I love this outfit so much! You look particularly sleek in this combo, and I really like the tailcoat with the shorts and those boots.

This might just be my favourite look yet - those boots are amazing - are they comfy?
Your dad is funny, you should have told him you are conducting:)

I didn't realize the boots had a lucite heel. You are soooo on trend!

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

    You look mahvelous, dahling :)

    Wonderful, wonderful!!!

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

I had thought I would hate the shoes, but they really work! I think it is some of the other classic vibes that pull it together and keep it from being too over the top. Great outfit!

I adore this, Anna. I love how you have simplified everything to allow the statement shoe and the tail coat shine. You look wonderful.

I hope you have a great time!

So cool - I am glad the toe socks worked! I think my favorite part is the matchy-matching necklace/heel combo. Glad you are taking some time for yourself.

Looks great! You style to perfection. Wouldn't tabi socks (not tabi which aren't too comfortable) be more comfortable than toe socks? I noticed that Amazon sells a variety.

Another memorable look from you! I am a VFF wearer and really like the refinement of these shoes.

Brilliant! Have a great time and enjoy your snippet of freedom - lol!

You look lovely, those boots are unbelievable. Cooooool!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Sooo fun! Love the matching Lucite bits, love the longer winter shorts length (now I want a pair!), love the whackadoodle shoes mixed with the formal-style jacket. Hope you two have a blast!

LOLing at your funny dad!! I LOVE those shoes!! And you look great -- fashionable, relaxed, and happy!

Thanks everyone! We went to the Brooklyn, their oysters were da bomb! Shoes survived a few blocks walk to and from the bus stop. No issues for that walk, though they feel a bit strange and surprisingly warm. I don't think they'll be heavy wear shoes due to the heel being entirely lucite.
This was a much needed break for me. And BTW Manhattan's are dangerous, as are pomegranate kamikazes.

You look like you should be in a play. Playing I don't know who, but it would be a singularly amazing character. Love it! Nice red lips too!

  • Nadya replied 11 years ago

Hmm, you reminded me I have a clear lucite necklace. I may need some whackadoodle shoes!

Fun outfit. Hope you two had a blast.

Fantastic! And your father is so funny.

When I lived in Japan, growing up in the 70s, construction workers wore black tabi booties. With rubber soles. No heels of course. Then they wore harem style pants and a hachi-maki (headband). It was a cool look. They were like spiders, climbing around the bamboo scaffolding. Looking at recent pictures, this look is a thing of the past.

I always learn something new from your outfit posts! Those shoes are not my cup of tea, but on you they look AWESOME with this outfit!

Glad you could get some time away and enjoy an evening with Jenava.

Nothing like a bit of Dad humour!

Love this outfit. It's a really cool mix of classic and Avant Garde IMHO. The shoes are definitely an acquired taste but you make them look fab!

Hope you had a really good night and got to unwind and relax.

Those shoes are so cool and I really love how you've styled them. Fabulous and interesting outfit!

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

Missed this yesterday. Awesome! Love the jacket with the more 'out there' shoes together.

  • Sheila replied 11 years ago

Oh I love the Brooklyn and I can picture you there exactly. Perfect outfit -- I think it is amazingly restrained, for all the very interesting elements you have combined. Good for you for walking around downtown in these wonderful shoes. Did you have to walk downhill or uphill to get to the Brooklyn? I would have taken it slowly in these shoes...do they have rubber tips or something to keep you from slipping?

  • lynne replied 11 years ago

Amazing! I adore those lucite heels. The potential to look "costume-y" is high, but you pulled it off with aplomb. You are my hero.

  • Isis replied 11 years ago

Love everything about this; you look so interesting yet chic. Everything just works!

    And pomegranite kamikazees sound yummy!

Glad you were able to get away.

  • ironkurtin replied 11 years ago

    I LOVE this. AMAZING!
