WIW 2/14, what's the phrase

So a long while ago I abandoned the forum and posting outfits. Though some of you may have noticed me sneaking in sometimes to post and comment.
Anyways the phrase of indeterminate origin:
Man plans, God laughs.
That currently applies to my life. I did take a huge shopping break from mid October to early January.
So for the heck of it I took a picture of my outfit. It's not the best photo, as I had about five minutes to set up my tripod and remember how to set the self timer.
Yes, today is Valentine's Day, and yes I'm still single.
But one of my friend's organized a totally awesome event. It's called Puzzle Break. You are locked in a room for one hour and need to figure out a series of logic and other types of puzzles to find the key to escape. It has a 21% success rate. We did not make it, were probably 10 minutes away. Some of the puzzles were crazy hard.
Anyways I'm wearing a mixture of low, mid and high end.
Pendleton Portland Collection cardigan, H&M chambray dress, Acne Studios Pistol ankle boots, and Chloe bag.
Right now I'm fixated on all forms of denim and chambray.
It's been unseasonably warm all winter in Seattle. Bonus shot of sunset when I got home.

Yay! I love this outfit Anna! Brilliant! Can't believe but can believe you found the dress at H&M!

  • AM replied 9 years ago

Happy Valentine's Day. And I really needed to hear "Man plans, God laughs."
Thank you. I'm loving your post and your outfit. I also have an interest in denim/chambray and I have included this theme in one of my spring concept boards. Trying to plan ahead for spring shopping -- and I bet God is laughing. I'm hoping to see more of your outfits in the denim/chambray zone.

I thought you might reappear with short black hair and nude lipstick or some very different look. Did you notice the heart shape in your sunset trees?

I've got a chambray shirt in mind for spring myself and I think the last one I owned was an LL Bean 90s model.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Yay! An Anna post. Loved your quotable quote.

This is such a soft and pretty look. The party sounded amazing and fun.

    Good to see you back.

If I had a paper valentine to put in your shoebox I would give you one (am I showing my age and upbringing with that comment?!)

Anna you look great! Love that dress! I hope you post some more of your fabulous outfits.

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

So nice to see you again! The blue of your denim dress is amazing with your eyes and hair. Also, I see that you're still taking gorgeous nature pics.

    How's your father doing?

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Anna, so great to see you post. And what a fantastic event! I love the sounds of it.

I also love your outfit. You GLOW in that shade of chambray. Fabulous on you.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

You look so lovely! I like the neutral boots and now regret donating my chambray dress :)

    Also: Can we say *summer*?

    Happy Valentine's!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Good to see you post Anna:)  The event sounds so clever.  I would love the details ... maybe it's on website somewhere?

Great outfit too.  Any outfit featuring the Pistol boot is sensational IMHO.

Looking Good! Sounds like a fun night and what a view to come home to...nice to see you!

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

Anna!  So good to see you posting outfits again!

Love the combo of the Pendleton cardigan over the dress.  And look at your bare legs and flowers.  SO JEALOUS.

  • Theodora replied 9 years ago

I want to go to that event,  sounds awesome.

    That's a good shopping break.....
And cool outfit, I like the nonchalant air it has.

  • Meredith replied 9 years ago

If I coud give you candy heart it would say, "I heart your style!"

  • Missey replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous you!  I love the cardigan...the entire outfit is perfection!  You really are my biggest fashion inspiration.

  • Summer replied 9 years ago

I love the quotation, Anna, and isn't it fitting?
I share your love of chambray, and the dress you are wearing, very nice.

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

so nice to see you again! lovely outfit, and the puzzle break sound like a lot of  fun. please pop in again soon!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Yay! So glad to see you post again, I have missed you. The denim dress looks comfortable and fashionable. I have been on a bootie kick (pun intended) lately and love everything when worn with booties.

Isn't it nice to have a mild winter? I wouldn't know this year. Ours has been brutal. The winter of endless snow.

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

You look terrific, and I am jealous of your winter  :)

Sounds like a super fun event!

  • replied 9 years ago

Oh, I'm loving that dress. I like that the patterned long cardigan is almost the same length and those boots are awesome (nice bookending with our hair). You look great and it's good to see you Anna!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

Great outfit, and it's nice to see you post again. That event sounds like fun.

I can't believe your weather -- look at the trees blooming! Right now it's 7 degrees here and with wind chill making it feel like -20. That's quite unusual for this area, but we've had a colder-than-normal winter, but without much snow. Guess I won't be riding my bike AGAIN today... On the plus side, the very warm and cozy Ugg moto boots I bought at the beginning of the winter have come in very handy.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Anna, so nice to see you again! Love the outfit, the softer look suits you really well and you still managed to get it uniquely you.
I have to echo Janet: the first thing which I noticed in your picture were tree blossoms. In February, when we are buried under feet of snow and windchill is closing on -40C today. Lucky you!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Anna, it is so good to see you post and what a fabulous outfit. The chambray and denim look perfect with your Pendelton and boots. The event sounds like such fun. Look at that blooming tree! Spring can't be too far off although we are expecting several inches of snow today (Colorado).

  • Kari replied 9 years ago

It was such a treat to get great weather yesterday! You look so fresh. I love the boots in particular.

I've heard of puzzle breaks before but haven't done one. Was this at a venue in Seattle? Were you teamed up with folks you knew?

  • gryffin replied 9 years ago

Anna - so wonderful to see you post an outfit!!  I've missed your posts so much!!  Wow, what an awesome idea for an event!  never heard of that but totally intrigued.  Hope it was an awesome v-day!!  Gorgeous sunset - just one of those moments when you stop at gasp at the grandeur of nature!

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

    YLF ;)

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Sounds like an amazing idea for a party --- and such a relief from the V-Day hype.

Love the way you take the classic "chambray shirt," an morph it into a fab statement.  The fabric suits your coloring, and your embrace of the slouchy cardi gives it the quintessential "PNW" vibe, with a bit of high fashion twist.

Years ago, I was planning for a car.  God laughed at me, and I ended up with DH.  His car was rubbish, but he's a keeper.

  • annagybe replied 9 years ago

Thanks everyone. This warm weather, we are going to pay for this summer. Snowpack in the mountains is something like 21% of what it should be. The snowpack feeds our reservoirs and everything else. I did not go skiing once this season, it was so bad.
Puzzle Break seems to be only in Seattle and San Francisco

  • Isabel replied 9 years ago

OMG...I cannot believe you survived the "puzzle room".  LOL  I wouldn't have made it.  Boggle drives me nuts.  :  )

You look great.  LOVE the Pendleton sweater in particular with the boots.

  • Inge replied 9 years ago

It's really wonderful to see a new outfit from you, Anna (and noticing that you've been chiming in here and there). I miss you when you are not around.

Loving your chambray dress, it's the perfect colour blue. It looks great paired with the blonde booties, and cosy Pendleton cardigan. Your hair has grown quite a bit too. Fun!

The Puzzle Break sounds brilliant (my success rate would be much less than 21% if logic puzzles are involved, I'm soooo bad at that;-) I'm glad to hear you had fun, and thanks for sharing the wonderful sunset photo.

  • Mary Beth (formerly LBD) replied 9 years ago

Anna, you look gorgeous!   I love your nude-toned shoes and bare legs.   I wish it were warmer in Atlanta right now.

Also, that puzzle experience sounds fantastic!   I would be all over that!  (and I'd probably cry when I couldn't figure it out).

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

What a fun event!  And a nice layered look here.  I always adore those booties they are the perfect pair with your hair and against the nude leg really lengthens the leg line.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Looking great! And so nice to see you again. The puzzle night sounds fun :)

  • El Cee replied 9 years ago

You look great! I especially love the Pendleton cardigan. Sharing your current "fixation" with all things denim and chambray. (Looks fresh to my eye but also fits a casual lifestyle.)

The Puzzle Break sounds like a lot of fun. A clever idea!

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

Anna its not the same when you are not here on YLF.  You don't realize how much inspiration you give!

I am mad about denim right now too.  I am realizing it is an important part of my "uniform" of life.

  • viva replied 9 years ago

Great outfit, Anna! Nice seeing you again.
Boston has a Locked Room experience my daughter has been trying to get us to do for a while - might have to try it now!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

Oh my, so simple, so perfect!

From the thumbnails I thought you were in Arizona or New Mexico.  The second picture's power pole looked like a cactus in the sunset.  And your dress looked something for warm weather.

Our winter has been at least 20 degrees warmer than average.  I haven't needed a coat, just sweaters at night.

  • tricia w. replied 9 years ago

I gave a little shout of glee, when I saw you post! Happy to see you back!

  • Mia replied 9 years ago

Love that dress so much!  Great to "see" you popping in again.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

Hi there and LOVE the mix of blues, cream and tan colors. So great with your hair and coloring. Excellent high-low mixing! Great dress structure + flowy cardigan.

  • replied 9 years ago

You pulled me back out of lurking again. Loads of great style on here but I generally seem to relate to yours the most, I think. I love the splashes of  pattern, color, sparkle that you often throw in. It's stuff that highly appeals to me.

I dig that outfit. I am loving chambray/denim/chunky cardigans and booties too. You are wearing it well.
