WIW 1/26 in which I attempt to be a real fashion blogger, & copy MaryK

So I wanted to copy MaryK's look here, even though I didn't have anything in radiant orchid
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ant-orchid

I also had a bit of extra time this morning and decided to get creative with my pictures. I took my camera and tripod out to a local park. It was empty when I got there, which was great. Then about five people showed up, two of them decided to walk down the path I had set my tripod up on, so I had to break it down to let them pass. Plus I got a bit embarrassed over the whole thing, but I soldiered through. I don't think I could ever be a real fashion blogger. Though I might try the park thing again because there's a bunch of little interesting spots in it.
Anyways I'm wearing Acne royal purple oversized blouse, Target leopard print cardigan, Truth & Pride leather moto vest. Acne skinny khakis, Laurence Dacade studded boots, with Venessa Arizaga necklace and PS1.
The last set of pictures are my attempt at true fashion blogger look with my pink Christian Dior pointy toe pumps.

    Squee!!  SO FUN!!!

What a great outfit, and what a great spot for a photo shoot!  I think the result was definitely worth the embarassment!!  Let's hear it for Team Soldiering Through!!

I like it best with the booties, per the original.  And OMG that moto vest is super super fab!!  Brava!!

  • replied 10 years ago

Heyyy! Don't you look great Ms blogger! Love the photo shoot. Your outfit is superb. I'm loving the leather vest and the light pants bookending the light tones of the cardigan. Nice pink pumps too.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Terrific. I love this with both shoes--slight preference for the more comfortable looking boots. The pumps do look very fashion blogger though. Love the new backdrop!

  • cciele replied 10 years ago

Funny story! Glad you solidered on. Love the layering in your outfit. And the pink pumps do elevate the outfit to the true fashion blogger look as you say :)

  • Kiwibird replied 10 years ago

Awesome outfit - especially love the pink pumps!  And the location for your photo shoot is great - good on you for carrying on despite the embarrassment!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

This looks like fun, and I like your pop of pink lippy to match the pumps!

  • Gigi replied 10 years ago

Wow, you are courageous! I don't think I could do that. I think a lot of fashion bloggers have boyfriends or husbands out with them who take the pictures...so it's a little less awkward. Good job doing it by yourself!

Your outfit is too cute...so many fun elements.

  • Windchime replied 10 years ago

I love this-- the outfit, your fab boots, your gorgeous pumps, and the location. My eyes are feasting on the green; outside my window is two feet of snow. Good for you for soldiering through; you look fantastic! Also, I'm sure those people figured you ARE a real fashion blogger.

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

I can relate to the embarrassment of posing in public.  Good for you for going forward.  I love the blogger look in #5 lol.  Great color blouse, too.

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

You are a blogger to be reckoned with!  Love #5 too, you have that insouciant look that bloggers wear so well.  Your outfit is another masterful creation - can't decide if I like pumps or boots better - I think pumps!  But great that the boots look good too for practical reasons.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Anna, this is awesome! I love getting the extra bit of perspective -- it definitely helps -- no wonder real fashion bloggers look so darned good. Their tripods don't have to be like 4 feet away from them the way mine does at home!

Anyway - here you are looking absolutely stunning, and you know what? I love it best with the boots. They are amazing! I just love love love the blouse with the leopard and vest. So clever.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Anna gorgeous outfit! Love how you layered the vest over the cardi. And I love your outdoor photos, I'm trying to get my courage up to do so e pics in my street, which is very quiet and private. The thought of doing pics in the park make me shudder lol.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

These are fantastic! I am biased toward the boots version because I can't help but cringing when I see such high heels, but that's just me. I love the purple on you too. And the skinny khakis. Well you get the idea!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Good on you for being so brave and looking so fab, Anna - I'd never have the guts to do this!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Go Anna! I have to confess I like the boots better than the heels. Maybe because I know you, or maybe because my feet cry when they see such lovely pointy high heels.

I also love the high low of Target and Dior in the same outfi. :)

You definitely have th cool edge of a fashion blogger!

  • Joyce B replied 10 years ago

Great look, both with boots and with the pink shoes.
It's great that you persisted and took your own pictures.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

Great setting, great outfit, and the pink pumps with it are TDF!

  • replied 10 years ago

What a great shoot and back drop. I can't even snap pictures with the family home!

The outfit is really great - the colors feel regal too me. O, and then you slipped into those pink heels, gah, so cool, so gorgeous.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Fantastic blogger pose in #5! So fun! I like it with the boots best, but probably because that's what I would wear in that setting.

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

I love it with the pink pumps and am always in awe of those who venture out in public for their shots. Nice job. You need the disinterested blogger face though to really nail it (although I personally prefer your smile to their pouts)

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

So fun!! Great outfit, as usual....the shoes are oh so pretty with this, but the boots more practical for a walk in the park :-)

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Very cool. Packing punch.

  • El Cee replied 10 years ago

You look great! Fantastic shots in an interesting woodsy setting. That royal purple shade is beautiful on you. I like how you've paired a soft, feminine blouse with the more rugged leather and leopard. Love the studded boots!

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

Fantastic. I would never think to layer a cardi like this, but it totally works. That purple is gorgeous on you. You do look very bloggery in the hot pink pumps, but I love it even more with the boots.

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

The layering is so fantastic here!  Love it with both shoes, and you are so right, the outfit with the pink pumps is super fashion blogger.

I totally hear you about taking photos outside. I always get so anxious when I try to do it.  (And I don't even have a tripod, so I have to precariously balance my camera on things and hope for the best!).  The backdrop and lighting really are great here though.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

I think blogs have become so popular snapping photos in public by oneself isn't something to worry about.  I don't bat an eye myself, but I do live near NYC where people don't usually stop for anything anyway. There is always so much going on, you get used to tuning it all out.

I really like the purple with the animal print here.  This animal print is a lovely piece.  I always see them with a heavy brown base to it, but the white is super.

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

Thanks everyone. I actually enjoyed trying to find a spot to take pictures. So I think I'll try this again. In fact I was thinking of reducing the amount of WIW's to only do photos like these. So basically weekends only.
Although I thought this experiment would generate a lot more comments, hmmm.

  • ironkurtin replied 10 years ago

Yeah, AG, I know what you mean.  I'm sortof puzzled by the lack of comments on my threads, too.  OK, I'm far less adventurous than you are, but...

Although Kingdom of Style just did a whole post on how they never get any comments, so if THEY aren't getting any, we can't really be miffed WE aren't!

  • replied 10 years ago

I missed this before. Kudos for getting some photos out in the wild! I enjoy seeing how you layer pieces in your outfits.

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

Awesome, and great photos!  I'd read your blog :D  You make khakis look freaking cool.

  • shemarie replied 10 years ago

I would totally follow your blog, Anna! You are way more cool, edgy, classy and real than any I've ever read! I adore your outfits, and this is no exception.  I just love, love, love the background, and the black & white + royal purple + leather completely rocks.  I like the boots a lot, but those pink pumps are gorgeous! You totally own the look and the location!

  • rebekahphoto replied 10 years ago

this is great! The black & white print pops nicely & while I would wear the boots for comfort, those hot pink pumps are divine!

great job on the "blogger shot"!! It can be really hard to take self portraits--both technically and conceptually!
I am looking & talking about photos all day long, and yet I still can barely take a photo of anything I wear...I keep thinking if maybe I start it as a new good "habit", like making a green smoothie with my new vitamix (!) every day (going on 3 weeks)--it will eventually stick.

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

So great! The pop of purple is inspired, with the other neutrals, and the white lets it stand out. Love the boots version. I think a pop of color shoe works too but I might prefer something a little less dainty and high, even if a pump--not sure what that would be, though.

  • K. Period. replied 10 years ago

I love it, Anna! Beautiful. I think the lighting suits you so much better than your regular lighting.  You always look very pretty, but you look particularly pretty with this natural light.  BTW, love the shoes! Forgive me for doubting (and it was always only the height and walkability).

  • viva replied 10 years ago

Love the outfit and hearing about your experience venturing out into the wilds.

I confess I am bored of my WIWs and feel like others are too. Maybe its the setting or maybe it's my style. But seeing these fabulous pictures makes me think the setting can really help. I may just wait until the thaw and then venture outside where perspective is possible (Suz is so right) and there is all that luscious green to provide the perfect backdrop.

I don't really have a preference shoe-wise; I think both work depending on your occasion. So great to show both in this sequence and to have both to shake up the vibe of this great outfit.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Thanks for posting this, Anna. Love the outfit both ways and the beautiful scenery.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

High five, Princess Chinos. They're quite fun to wear - all fashioned up - aren't they?

Great that you're outside taking pics in your killer look. It gets easier. You just have to switch off and be denial about the passersby.

  • Missey replied 10 years ago

I admire your tenacity for taking your show on the road, which is funny because we wear these looks outside the home, so why shouldn't they be photographed in their "natural environment"?  I personally feel self indulgent taking photos of myself in my outfits while finding it helpful at the same time.  Why the photograph and mirror provide different perspectives on the same outfit is beyond me, but I always find that I get a better idea of what my outfit really looks like from a photo.  A bit more of an outsiders perspective, perhaps?

  • Tanya replied 10 years ago

Awesome outfit, and I love the "outside" pictures.  Well worth the effort if you ask me.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

You are too cool for words!! Love everything about this!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Wow, you have courage! I'd never dare to enter public areas with my tripod. Kudos to you! Your outfit is terrific. I particularly like it with boots, but the pink heels are irresistible, too.

  • san replied 10 years ago

Very nice Anna.  I love the outdoor pictures and your outfit.

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

Great pictures -- the trees are such a lovely backdrop! And I'm seriously impressed that you can make even khakis look cutting-edge.
