I like the pieces, but the combo of the bulky half-tuck and the pleats make this so bulky in the middle. I don't necessarily think it looks bad - just an observation. I think you need to half-tuck with this, so not sure what the remedy would be.

I take Jeneva's point but I actually think this looks SUPER cute on you. I love the textures of the suede-like or velvety skirt and sweater with the rubber boots. And the grey socks are somehow sophisticated yet adorable.

    Have a great date!

It looks cute. I especially like the wellies with the OTK socks and short but not too short skirt. A lighter weight, slightly more fitted cream top would work if you want to achieve less bulk while still semi or fully tucking. But this works too.

perfect outfit for an afternoon coffee date - it's interesting but not over the top and the textures and colours are soft and sophisticated

I do not think this is your best look but I like the idea. I must admit I have a poison eye for over the knee sock with boots.

Gorgeous combo of neutral colours and textures. Pic 1 does look a little bulky - but all that disappears in pic 2. You look stylish, and very approachable.

Anna, I love everything but the boots. I have a poison eye for Wellies in any case, all I can think about is how they make feet sweat and ugh. IMO you have good legs and this isn't cashing in the full check. But frankly if you're feeling it, you can carry off anything!

Lovely! I like the entire cozy ensemble.

Like Jenava I like the idea but semi tuck feels to bulky here. The sweater texture is heavenly with this skirt however. I would love to see a shorter sweater in this outfit so its length does not interfere with the skirt's pleats.

I love this, Anna. You look so cute and cozy and approachable, and personally I think this is a great coffee date look.

I want to try pairing a chunky sweater with my paper bag skirt now!

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

Your chunky sweater is so perfect, Anna. Chunky but not fattening, lol.

Also, I'm surprised by how much your look does actually look like the inspiration photo... considering her dog jumper and everything... not that there's anything wrong with that... ;>

I love everything about this outfit except the height of the socks, which seems to chop your legs up into awkward pieces.

I agree that the top part is a little bulky, but it doesn't make it look like the bulk is coming from you, so it works. But I rather like bulky knits over skinnier bottoms, so I have the opposite of a poison eye going on here.

I do not care for the socks -- they segment your legs too much. I think the AP photo where they are slouched to just under the knees looks better. I find this style a bit jarring to my eye, because if I am wearing a parka then it is too damn cold to wear a short skirt, but I am assuming that this is "a look", so that is my bias showing.

I also don't get the whole Hunter boot thing, but I have been seeing it around campus, it seems to be gradually replacing the salt-stained soggy UGGs that students insist upon wearing all winter.

That sweater was a great find, I love it, and it looks great with the skirt.

I like this on you, but I think it would look better with black tights under the socks the way Blair did in that last picture in the first link.
I think with bare legs it draws attention straight to your thighs and breaks up the look as well as looking too cold for this time of year.

Late to the party but I love this. You are so slender--I could never semi tuck an aran sweater! Love the look--socks, Hunters and everything else. You look approachable and fun.

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

I am really late to the party, but thanks to Diana's link to you here, I can enjoy it for the first time. I love this A-P re-do Anna-style!

Anna this looks great! You mentioned once that you have leather shorts? I would love to see your leather shorts and tights paired with that cream sweater!
